About Me

Lori brings more than 30 years of work experience in the business and not-for-profit sectors that will serve Malverne and its residents.

Professional Years

After graduating from Fordham University with a degree in Business Administration (Marketing Communications), she began working at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising Worldwide in the media relations department of their healthcare/pharmaceutical division. Lori then took her love of media relations and marketing communications and put it to work at the American Cancer Society (ACS) where she quickly rose through the ranks as the marketing & media relations specialist for the Long Island, Westchester, and Hudson Valley regions.

Lori covered media relations  from Southampton, LI to Kingston, NY and served as a spokesperson for the organization in print, radio, and TV including on News 12, CBS, ABC, and NBC as well as an advocacy spokesperson in Albany and in Nassau County for cancer-related legislation and funding. It was at ACS where she learned from an "all hands-on deck" not-for-profit in order to  multitask and handle all aspects of marketing communications including: media relations, public relations, journal and collateral design, event planning, fundraising, and community outreach.

In 2001, Lori was asked by her family to come back and assist in the financial management of their wholesale produce business located in Hunts Point.  Lori assisted in various capacities to oversee 35+ employees and the annual sales revenue of approximately $20 million.

Lori's day to day functions included management of:  accounts receivable, accounts payable, quality control, USDA compliance, daily cash sales balancing, banking, payroll, and labor relations with members of Local 202/Teamsters Union, the 4th largest union in the United States.

After 16 years of business management at her family firm, the business was sold in the summer of 2017. Lori took this as an opportunity to launch a longtime dream of hers, starting her own Home Organization & Design business in December of 2017 called Simplify.  She now helps real estate agents and homeowners stage  and depersonalize their homes for selling; pack and unpack during a move; and also helps homeowners declutter and streamline their homes to live a more organized life. Lori also recently completed her coursework at Hofstra University to become a real estate sales agent and soon awaits her exam results from New York State.

Young Adult Years

In 1987, Lori's mother, Cathy, was elected Malverne's 1st female mayor. She witnessed the election process at a very young age and volunteered countless hours in the village during that time. Lori sat on the Malverne Youth Board during both of her mom's terms on the Village Board and assisted the Village Court with the computerization of records over the summers of 1987 and 1988.

At the age of 14, she started working right here in the village in the restaurant industry including the Brown Derby, J.P. Doyle's/Connolly Station and the Cork 'N Board serving as a bus girl, waitress, bartender, and special event staff. In addition, Lori grew up going to her family wholesale produce business at Hunts Point Market in the Bronx since she was the young age of 14, filling in for employees during her school vacations and summer breaks until she graduated college in 1996. Lori understands the needs of a small business owner first hand and this experience will be vital as a member of the Village Board.
