Hometown Pride Announces Slate for March Election

A Choice & A Voice for Malverne Residents

Dear Malvernites,

We are pleased and excited to announce our slate for the Village of Malverne election to be held on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019 .

The Hometown Pride Party was started by a group of concerned citizens back in 1987 when there had been no election choice in village politics for over 63 years. As many residents may remember, the roads were falling apart, and village buildings and assets were in a dire state of disrepair. The village was on the verge of bankruptcy.

The election of March 1987 resulted in our Hometown Pride Party candidates winning in a landslide election of 2:1 and we had our first female Mayor elected. I was that candidate. What was more remarkable was that more than 3000+ residents came out and had their voices heard!

Unfortunately, we find ourselves at this crossroads once again. The way we run our village elections and appointments needs a change and for this reason, we are bringing back the Hometown Pride Party. We want to give the residents two things – a choice & a voice !

Our residents deserve a true election where choices are presented for their village representatives. Our residents deserve to also have their voices heard at meetings and to be represented and informed in all major, and minor, expenditures that come from their tax money – and in a timely fashion before the choices are made.

Transparency is needed and our Hometown Pride party candidates have the professional business administration and law backgrounds where this will be reinstated. Our goals are 3-fold:

  • Business Minds for Fiscal Responsibility & Transparency
  • Proactive Communication with our Residents
  • Increased Resident Involvement & Volunteerism

Our candidates are lifelong/longtime residents, and they know why people move to Malverne. For the village services. For its safety. For a small-town feel. For the proximity to NYC.

We will:

  • Create a Business Development Committee – utilizing the skills of the small business, real estate, grant writing and planning development professionals in the village to revitalize our shopping district and offerings;
  • Create a Communications Officer – who will oversee proactive communications with our residents (public information sessions, meeting reminders and videos posted as well as recaps of key issues posted on the website, email blasts, and a NEW social media page created);
  • Create a Volunteer Recruitment Committee – that will bring all volunteer groups in the village together 2-3 times a year for volunteer recruitment drives for the greater good of our village.

I urge our residents to register to vote. I urge our residents to be informed. I urge our residents to VOTE HOMETOWN PRIDE PARTY :

LORI LANG (MAYOR)

MONICA COFFEY-MURRAY (VILLAGE JUSTICE)

ANTONY PFEFFER & ROSSANA WEITEKAMP (TRUSTEES) on Tuesday, March 19th, 2019!
